The Wider Concept Of Islamic Education

 Importance Of Islamic Education

History Of Islamic Education

The first verse of the Holy Quran was about education. The Holy Messenger (P.B.U. H) teaches all the Muslims of the world about the teachings of the Holy Quran. Above all, the Holy Quran is the fundamental book of every knowledge and study. Today unquestionably there are multiple studies and subjects based on Islamic education.

After the origin of Islam, the Holy Prophet used to guide Muslims about education and knowledge too. In fact, the Holy Prophet (P.B.U. H) also guided everything about the religious knowledge to every Muslim. In the early age of Islam, Muslims used to learn by heart all the verses and hadiths.

After the Holy Prophet, all the close companions and caliphs of Islam make special arrangements for education reforms. We based the main knowledge on the religious teachings of the Holy Quran.

Every Caliph of Islam contributes to educational reforms and institutions however the Role of Hazrat Umer (R. A) in education, economics, and administration was splendid.

All caliphs promote educational institutions. Students were also encouraged and as a result, many of the people were experts in religious knowledge. Many people become Imam and scholars in later years from Muslim institutions.

In the 11th 0r 12th centuries, the ruling elites formed educational institutions known as Madrasas under the supervision of religious scholars.  Muslims also implement practical knowledge of the Holy Quran.

Islamic Educational Reforms

After the 12 century Muslims establish proper educational institutes. In later years, Muslims also study other scientific and Greek subjects along with mathematics. The priority was always to religious knowledge as Muslims believes in the afterlife.

The Holy Prophet (PBUH) said, “He is not of us who does not respect our elderly, is merciful to our youth, and knows the rights of those who teach us,”

Undoubtedly, Islam also provides too much respect and importance to teachers. As they are the one who builds character and helps others to become an important member of society. Hazrat Ali (R.A.) said: “One who taught me a single word, made me his slave.”

Islamic Education And Modern Science

It’s one of the difficult concepts as people think that Islamic education and scientific education and both different as compared to each other. The reality differs from this perspective.

Unquestionably, the knowledge of Islam is the knowledge of Allah. He is the one who creates all the world including mankind. Undoubtedly, the scientist has discovered different hidden prospect of the world however it too much limited in front of religious knowledge.

Today, 80% of science is according to the knowledge of Islam. 20% is not different from the Holy Quran but it’s not yet finalized as a scientist are still discovering day by day.
